One of my best friends got hitched this past weekend in lovely Garrison, NY. I'm so rediculously happy for both of them. The location. The cake. The flowers. The bridesmaid dress. The view from the hotel window.
Post-wedding, the extended family and I headed to NC for a little too much time together. Check out the text in the black and white checker pattern. Oh yeah, the motorcycle resort.
Close up of Fontana Dam.
View of Fontana Lake.
Joyce Kilmer Memorial Forest. You know...the author of the trite poem "Trees" http://www.bartleby.com/104/119.html At least the forest is beautiful...
My sister got married this past weekend in Alabama. I was a little worried about the red neck factor but it turned out to be one of the coolest, most laid-back, fun weddings I've ever been too. A puddle of tulle.
I'm typically not the beach vacation kinda girl. But a little blue sky, sun and good friends and suddenly I can hang out all day. Too bad my sun-burned blistered back doesn't agree. The view from the apartment in Guanica.
San Jacinto Restaurant. Home of empanadas, tasty mystery meat, rice and beans and the ferry to Guilligan's Island.
Warning sign on the way to the ferry. I love how the guy looks drunk.
More San Jacinto Restaurant.
Virgin Mary fountain. Who knew that the BVM and crucifixion imagery has been combined? Next to where we bought green coconuts to drink.
Ponce, PR is a wonderful and decrepit city with so many abandoned old beautiful buildings. It's too bad we only went there at night, I would have loved to wander the streets during the day.
The phosphorescent bay! One of the most amazing things I've ever seen. At one point, they brought a bucket of the water on the boat and it was like holding stars in your hand.
Night fishing. View from apartment in the evening.
Beautiful black birds. I wonder if these are the equivallent of a NYC pigeon...they were everywhere. Crashing the Copamarina Resort. House in Guanica, PR.
Spiky what's-it-called plants. More spiky what's-it-called plants. Gotta say, I really love plants that are spiky and ugly. I hate the boring rose but give me one of these and I'll be happy.
Or perhaps a deep purple iris that looks almost black. When I have a garden, one day, I'll fill it with spiky or black plants with perhaps a few peonies thrown in.
Deep purple parrot tulip.
I'm so pleased with how these images came out...almost like a painting.
Lotus and white fonke on the left (tasted like sugary water with chunks of crunchy tasteless things in it. Nasty. Still have no idea what fonke is.) On the right are basil seeds with mango, much more tastier. I even liked the slimy texture of the basil seeds. Slurp slurp.
A lot has been going on the past couple of days/weeks. Still taking pictures, just no time to post. 3rd Ave and 3rd St, Gowanus Canal. Shadows of what used to exist.
Close up of building (taken on another day).
3rd St, near Gowanus Canal.
Tribeca, corner of Varick St and Laight St. I guess this was for the Tribeca Film Festival. Very cool idea of changing the look of a walk/don't walk sign (check out the black silhouettes on the right too).
religious holiday! To celebrate the bloody crucifixion of our lord and savior, I spent the day going to the Whitney Biennial and kicking around town looking for evenweave linen. That's right, yet another one of my epic quests around nyc looking for odd items that no one else in their right mind would care about. 5th Ave, Park Slope.
5th Ave in Park Slope, pasted on the bottom of a light pole. I walked by this one many times before I saw it and then many more times before I remembered to bring my camera with me.
Wooster between Grand and Canal.
Sign on the side of a truck. I'm a big fan of watertanks.
In a doorway on Walker Street near Church.
Mercer St, above Houston. I love how this guy looks like he's oozing out of the steps.
Revisiting a previous post, now with new additions next to it.
Why why why?! would anyone want to put the effort toward making Sean Hannity's image? I do agree with the "Fox Sucks" comment though...
